It’s 12:06 PM, 12/4/2011, raining and dreary

It’s been raining since last night. :c

All the snow off the trees are gone. Boo.

On the other hand, Dad and I have been listening to avalanche mortars go off all morning. ovo That’s when they fire mortars at the avalanche risk areas on the mountain to try and cause a tiny avalanche with the snow already there to prevent a huge, natural avalanche. o3o

Weather report according to accuweather:

It is 36°, real feel is 16°, raining, with possibly 1.6” of snow on the way.

I MADE A SNOWMAN FOR YOU GUYS but mostly for yeahyeahyeah XD; Our snowman with a Dalistache c:

That last picture was me attempting to crawl up a hill for sticks to use. I didn’t go far. XD IT’S SO HARD TO WALK THROUGH THREE FEET OF SNOW. My pants were soaked up to my thighs.

There was one packed down path, and then just slightly to either side was a sudden drop up to your knees as you fell through the snow that had just been building up. XD;

More pictures of signs and such~

Brief history lesson:

The reason where we live is called “New Girdwood” is because old Girdwood used to be closer to Turnagain Arm, and then an earthquake sunk everything in the area 8ft under the ground. There are still buried trees where you can see the top. They were preserved after the ocean came in. ovo There are still a few rooftops around.

Nobody got hurt in the earthquake I think. XD;
